IF YOUR HEATING SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING
TRY THESE MONEY SAVING TIPS BEFORE CALLING
If you have no heat, please check the following before you call.
1. Thermostat — make sure it is set to heat, the batteries are good, and you have it set to a comfortable temperature.

2. Check the power to the furnace — Many furnaces have a fuse or switch next to them so they can be turned off during servicing. If the circuit breaker is tripped, you can reset it, but if it trips again, then you will need to call to have it checked out.

3. Some older furnaces have pilot lights, check to see if it is still lit. If it has gone out then follow the instructions in your owner’s manual or the instructions posted inside the furnace cabinet for pilot light information. If it goes out, again or will not light, please give us a call and we will send out a technician.

Technician Checking The Air Conditioner — Colorado Springs, CO — Gene’s Heating And Air
If you have insufficient cooling or heat, please check the following before you call.
If your furnace is operating, but providing little heat, make sure that there isn’t anything blocking the warm airflow…
1. Check to see if your thermostat is set properly. If it is, then raise the set temperature 5 degrees, waiting a few minutes to see if that improves the amount of heat in the room.

2. Make sure that all of the room’s registers are open.

3. Check the furnace filter, if it is dirty and you have a reusable filter, clean it, or replace it if you use a disposable filter.

4. If after following these steps, your furnace still does not work, please give us a call.

If you have no Air Conditioning…

1. Thermostat — make sure it is set to Cool and you have it set to a comfortable temperature.

2. Check the power to the furnace — Many furnaces have a fuse or switch next to them so they can be turned off during servicing. If the circuit breaker is tripped, you can reset it, but if it trips again, then you will need to call to have it checked out.

3. Check power to the condenser (this is the unit that sits outside) — If your unit is covered during the winter, the power may have been turned off (be sure to remove any covers on the unit before turning on the power).

How Central Air Conditioning Systems Work
  • The typical central air conditioning system is a split system, with an outdoor air conditioning, or “compressor bearing unit” and an indoor coil, which is usually installed on top of the furnace in the home.
  • Using electricity as its power source, the compressor pumps refrigerant through the system to gather heat and moisture from indoors and remove it from the home.
  • Heat and moisture are removed from the home when warm air from inside the home is blown over the cooled indoor coil. The heat in the air transfers to the coil, thereby “cooling” the air.
  • The heat that has transferred to the coil is then “pumped” to the exterior of the home, while the cooled air is pumped back inside, helping to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature.
  • Central air conditioning can also be provided through a package unit or a heat pump.
